ADU Planning

A smaller home. More possibility.

Plan a place for family, guests or another household, with the living needs, property and construction requirements considered together.

Start with how the space will be used.

Connect the living requirements with the existing property, access, utilities, and construction scope before selecting a package.

  • The intended use

Describe who will use the space and the living functions required.

  • The existing property

Review available site information, access, utilities, and the relationship to existing buildings.

  • The approval path

Confirm applicable land-use and building requirements with the responsible authority and professionals.

  • The complete budget

Include the unit, foundation, site work, utility connections, professional services, permits, and finishes within the overall discussion.

Help shape what comes next.

Our selected-plan and prefab-kit program is in development. You can discuss your property and goals with us now while the plan options, suppliers and package details are being finalized.

We look at the complete project: the package, site preparation, foundation, utilities, construction and finishes. That gives you a more useful starting point than a package price alone.

Your project, step by step

Connect the small home to the larger property.

The living layout, site and utility connections need to be developed together.

  1. Define the living needs

Discuss occupants, kitchen and bathing needs, access, storage and the relationship to the main home.

  2. Authorize the site and package review

Sign the pre-agreement defining review services and fees before evaluating property constraints, available utilities, design input and a possible package.

  3. Resolve the complete project

Coordinate the unit, foundation, utility routes, approvals, fixtures and finishes. Approve the scope, purchasing responsibilities and construction agreement before work begins.

Before you begin

Planning an ADU package.

Can we discuss this before a package is selected?

Yes. The initial conversation can identify the information and authorized planning needed to evaluate the property and intended use.

How do we plan the complete project budget?

We review the package contents alongside site work, design, approvals, foundation, utilities, assembly and finishes. Those connected costs give you a clearer view of the completed project.

A useful first conversation

Start with who will use the ADU.

Share the property location, living needs, approximate size and available site information. We will discuss the review needed to connect a possible package with the existing property. Book a 30-minute Google Meet consultation on an available Friday.

Start with a conversation.

Start by telling us about your project. If the next step involves investigation, detailed estimating or planning, we define the services and fees in a signed pre-agreement before that work begins.
